While at Open Studio Collective, I collaborated on a multi-disciplinary team to create a uniquely refined tasting room for Freeland Spirits, one of the few woman-owned distilleries in history. To tell the Freeland Spirits’ story, we developed subtle details for a tactile and olfactory experience: custom wheat-inspired wallpaper designed in-house, custom shelving units designed to display the distillery’s iconic glass bottles and jars filled with botanicals used in the distilling process, and copper detailing throughout the tasting room to reference the massive copper stills in full view behind the bar. We were fortunate to collaborate with many local women-owned businesses on this project: Fieldwork Flowers, to develop the plant installation, and with Fruit Salad Club, to create a custom mural that illustrates the story and process of Freeland Spirits.
